At the heart of renewing our local Church is renewing ourselves in the very heart of Jesus Christ, given to us in each celebration of the Eucharist. How momentous that, at the same time as our own renewal, the National Eucharistic Pilgrimage is coming through the Archdiocese of Chicago June 26-30! The pilgrimage invites disciples across Chicagoland to an encounter with Jesus in the celebration of the Eucharist, opening us up to grow in faith, participate in His saving mission, and receive the graces we need to go out and invite others into a relationship with Him. This historic pilgrimage is part of the Eucharistic Revival taking place across the U.S. and leading thousands to the 10th National Eucharistic Congress taking place in July in Indianapolis.

The Mass is the sacred Celebration of the Eucharist to which we are each drawn by Christ Himself. And it is from the Mass that we are sent to carry the Gospel and love of Christ to the world. As Cardinal Blase Cupich states, “The starting point for the renewal envisioned by the Second Vatican Council was the promotion of the full, active and conscious participation of all the baptized in the full breadth of church life, including the liturgy." The renewal of our Church, our communities and our families begins and ends with the renewal of ourselves at every Mass.
Renew My Church is a movement that helps all of us see that we are part of one, larger local Church. To continue on our path to renewal, the Archdiocese of Chicago hosts events to draw us together as we grow in relationship with Christ and our shared mission with one another.
