Dear friends and followers of Jesus Christ,

More than six years ago, the Archdiocese of Chicago began a journey of renewal. One that is both personal and communal in our response to Jesus’ call to renew His Church; a renewal both physical and spiritual in how we organize, form and grow our parish communities to invite and make disciples in our world today.

Thus far, the focus has been largely on the changes to parish structures. But now, with the early parishes having invested more time, resources and energy into making disciples, we are beginning to see the fruits of this hard work.

The Holy Spirit is leading us all – our parishes, schools, clergy and parishioners – in this important time in the life of our local Church, and you are an integral part of this movement. We invite you to stay connected through these brief updates, which will bring you stories of renewal from across Chicagoland and opportunities to grow in your own discipleship and to lead others to Christ and His Church.
Imagine a parish filled with engaged parishioners, that looks beyond its church building to bring the healing grace of Jesus Christ to the world. Click on the video to learn more about this vision of renewal, in English and Spanish.
The seeds of change have been planted and the movement of renewal is happening in our Archdiocese. Our goal is a local Church fully alive with parish communities brimming with the joy of serving Christ. To achieve this goal, we have developed a carefully guided process of grouping, uniting and even closing some parishes, so that resources can be refocused to create stronger, more vibrant parishes in the future.

Renewal is an invitation for every person and every parish in the archdiocese. And what’s needed to renew the Church is both wonderfully simple, yet beautifully rich at the same time. Each time we seek a new encounter with God, we grow as His disciples. Growing in our discipleship is the most fundamental imperative in the movement of renewal. Get Involved. Renewal depends on you.
